Funmigurumi Poochie Dog No. 9: Cheeks

Best Blog Tips

This is a female pup to make. Sweet and cute, ideal for a gift to any child or Ami lover of any age. She would also look lovable as a decoration in a nursery! She would also look just lovable on top any little girl's bed.
Her nickname, cheeks, came naturally as I was making her, the idea came to my mind, to give her cheeks, and the name "stuck". After a little bit of needle sculpting brought out a cutsy little rosy race with "real" cheeks, not other name was good enough!

How to create "cheeks": Thread the tail of one cheek pouch into a blunt needle. Stuff, cheek pouch lightly with fiberfill, then position it inside the funmigurumi doggie right beside the muzzle, 1 row above the start of the Baby Pink color section. Now, working ont he inside of the toy, "trap" the stuffing into the pouch as you stitch and form the curve of the "cheek at the same time by working in the following manner: Insert the needle on the bottom edge of the pouch, taking a bit of the chrocheted fabric of the face also (the stitch right below the edge of the pouch you just stabbed with your needle), pull gently up. Stitch on the top edge of the pouch, taking a stitch right above it, pull gently down. Go all around the "cheek" pouch doing this, as you go, pull gently, making sure you do not deform the crocheted fabric, until you see a soft "cheek" bulge out and at the same time, inside, the stuffing will be caught and kept in place by a web of crisscrossing yarn as your stitches go all around the pouch. Fasten off. Repeat on the opposite side.

Fasten off, leaving hte rest of the sts unworked. Also, leave a long tail to sew with. Pin in place with the side that has the half row of 2 scs-each towards the bottom and the unworked sts to the top. Sew as seen in photos. Fasten off.

Rnd 1- Make 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, slip st to join rnd. Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew with. Stitch eyelashes as seen in photos. Fasten off.

"The truth as it is in Jesus can be experienced, but never explained. Its height and breadth and depth pass out knowledge. We may task out imagination to the utmost, and then we shall see only dimply the outlines of a love that is unexplainable, that is as high as heaven, but that stooped to the earth to stamp the image og God on all mankind."
